East Town, Get Down Independent Music and Food Festival is back!
Saturday, May 28th Festival kicks off summer with an international flare.
Calgary, AB…. After a two-year hiatus, the East Town Get Down Independent Music and Food Festival is back! The festival happens Saturday, May 28 from 7 p.m. to midnight on International Avenue – Calgary’s Culinary and Cultural District. East Town is unique in the way it brings together and celebrates Calgary’s thriving independent music scene with the dynamic (and delicious) international flavour of 17th Avenue SE.
East Town Get Down happens along a six-blocks of International Avenue and area. Inspired by festivals like SXSW, you’ll find performances in a fun range of intimate and unlikely venues including small ethnic bistros, a bowling alley, and beautiful Unity Park.
Of course, INTL AVE’s amazing international restaurants are a big part of the unique “flavour” of this event. Dubbed “East Town Chow Down” festival goers can once again enjoy $5 dollar food plates at the various venues and enjoy tasty international cuisine from a variety of cultures.
This festival celebrates Calgary – and Alberta’s – terrific music scene. This year’s festival includes: Yves Jarvis, Blessed, Chixdiggit, Skinny Dyck, Witch Prophet, Scenic Route to Alaska, Sargeant X Comrade, K-Riz, The Confusionaires, Sunglaciers, Blake Reid Band, Dragon Fli Empire, Sinzere, The Veleteins, Sweet Barry Wine, I Am The Mountain, Tendavillage, The Lovebullies, Selci, Fin McDowell, Betaboys, Ashley Velvet, Brain Bent, Thomas Thomas, Body Lens, Julius Sumner Miller, Krill Williams, Samantha Savage Smith, Amy Nelson, Kue Varo and The Only Hopes, T. Buckley, Florida BC, The Rifle County Players, Salt Horse, No More Moments, El Leon and the Strangers, Known Local Babes, and Okay Mann
Confirmed venues include: Pacific Hut Filipino Restaurant, Paradise Lanes Bowling Alley, Bravo Restaurant, TG Juice Bar, Yegna Restaurant, Border Crossing, Phu Quy Vietnamese Restaurant, Kokonut Kove Pub, and Unity Park.
Wristbands are just $40 and can be purchased at easttowngetdown.ca
Brought to you by International Avenue merchants and International Avenue Arts and Culture sponsored by CJSW FM 90.9 radio and Village Brewery.
